By the end of this year, the TSC plans to confirm at least 26,000 teachers on internship terms into permanent and pensionable roles. To facilitate this transition, the upcoming July budget will allocate a significant portion of Sh26 billion for inclusion on the PNP payroll.
The bulk of the education budget, totaling Sh369.94 billion, is earmarked for the TSC, with funds allocated to pay and advance teachers. In February 2023, the Commission hired 20,000 student instructors, marking the final year of their second internship period.
These instructors will be placed in different job groups based on their qualifications, with PTE-certified instructors starting at grade B5 and graduate intern teachers placed in job group C2.
Despite employing a total of 46,000 intern instructors, the TSC only confirms those who have completed two years of internship service into permanent positions.TSC intern teachers confirmation 2024.
The 2024–2025 budget includes funding for teacher confirmation, along with resources to hire an additional 20,000 intern instructors this year.
Addressing the pressing need for teachers in junior secondary schools, TSC Chief Executive Dr. Nancy Macharia announced plans to recruit at least 20,000 additional teachers.TSC intern teachers confirmation 2024.
Currently, there is a shortfall of 99,045 teachers, with only 56,928 instructors available in schools. TSC has requested funding for 20,000 more teachers in the upcoming fiscal year to bridge this gap.
Responding to a surplus of 18,194 primary school teachers due to reduced class sizes under the new curriculum, TSC is redeploying P1 instructors to junior schools and offering promotion opportunities to graduate P1 teachers.
Eligible primary school teachers with a secondary option degree are encouraged to apply online for promotion to junior school positions by March 18, 2024.
Previously, TSC assured intern instructors of permanent and pensionable status in January 2025 after completing a two-year internship.

I graduated in the year 2014 as a p1 holder and upto date,I haven’t been absorbed by tsc.and following some adverts on tsc updates,it is as if tsc has no interest in recruiting p1s teachers and they have wasted their time and resources which might lead them to depressions.kindly conciser them.
There are those teachers who graduated from universities with diploma in Education secondary but had a meangrade of C plain and C+ in the two teaching subjects.
Can TSC consider them for placement.
