Maandamano Wednesday.Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga called for demonstrations today because the cost of living in Kenya is going up. This led to protests in the town of Keroka.
Odinga, a well-known politician, has put the blame entirely on President William Ruto’s government.
Residents of Keroka took to the streets to show how unhappy they were. They were angry because they were having trouble making ends meet.
Residents burned tyres to block a road and hold a small but noticeable protest in the town.
Maandamano Wednesday.
Even though there wasn’t much going on, their behaviour showed that people were getting more and more angry and unhappy.
Raila Odinga’s call for protests was heard by many people who have been having trouble making ends meet because prices for necessary goods and services have been going up.
Kenyans are suffering the effects of high inflation and unemployment rates, which are making the cost of living a bigger problem.
Odinga’s move to organise these protests shows how frustrated many people are.
At the moment, law enforcement has not yet arrived on the scene in Keroka and Nyamira Town.
The lack of cops could be seen as a cautious move by the government to keep things from getting worse or causing more trouble.
But it’s still unclear how the officials will handle the situation in the next few hours and days.
The protests in Nyamira, Keroka, and Kisii County show how important it is to solve Kenyans’ economic problems right away.
It reminds the government that it needs to listen to and act quickly on the worries of its people.
If we don’t do this, there could be more major unrest and social upheaval all over the land.
